First Step:
You need to buy NIC(network interface card). If it is latest PC you might be have one integrated NIC and other one you can connect via PCI or PCI-E slot.
That the inserted NIC needs driver to function in your PC. After installing the driver you need to reboot you PC and Start configuring for your internet connection access.
Second Step: (on Windows XP)

- Click on start.
- From there click on Control Panel.
- Click to view in classic tile icons.
- Open network connections.
- Now YOU CAN SEE 2 LOCAL AREA CONNECTIONS.
